What is Monocouche Render?

A monocouche (or ‘scratch render’) is a polymer modified, decorative and through-coloured render. Taken from the French words “mono” (meaning “single”) and “couche” (meaning “coat”), this refers to a single layer of exterior render material.

Monocouche renders are a thick coat that comes as a dry mix and therefore require mixing with water before application. It’s widely considered a traditional method because it’s applied at a similar thickness to sand and cement render – however, monocouche renders have the added benefit of also being breathable. This allows any water vapour to escape through the render.

OZÉ Neige monocouche render is the whitest option available from PRB Systems. This semi-lightweight and fine grained render can be applied to a variety of external and internal masonry. Please note, however, that it’s not suitable for render board or EWI (External Wall Insulation) systems.

PRB Superbrut

Superbrut monocouche render is available in an impressive 100 colours – so you’re sure to find the perfect shade for your building. It’s a weatherproof base coat, offering a breathable and decorative finish for a variety of applications. Again – this one isn’t suitable for EWI systems. PRB Thermolook

    Ensuring you avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, you can also gently scrub the surface of your render to loosen dirt, stains and algae growth. This can be gently rinsed off using clean water.

  3. Pressure Washer

    You can also pressure wash your render – just ensure you use moderate pressure so that you don’t damage your rendered facade.
