Whether you’re completing a large commercial project or DIY home decoration, there are several uses for a PVA adhesive. For example, PVA can be added to cement mortar to give the mix better waterproofing qualities, or when applying ceramic tiles to timber (e.g. bath panels). In plastering, PVA adhesives can be used to coat highly absorbent surfaces before the application of a finish. On some surfaces, such as an artex ceiling, the moisture in the plaster can be soaked up so quickly that it dries off and hardens before you’re able to achieve a smooth finish. Sealing the surface with a PVA adhesive beforehand slows down the absorption of moisture, meaning the plaster remains workable for longer, allowing you more time to achieve the finish you desire.
